76 Senators to Obama Administration: Reaffirm the U.S.-Israel Relationship
More than three-quarters of the United States Senate has signed a bipartisan letter to the Obama administration underscoring the importance of the U.S.-Israel relationship and laying out the bedrock support that it enjoys in the United States Congress. The Senate letter, signed by 76 senators, follows immediately on the heels of a similar House letter, which was signed by more than three-quarters of the House of Representatives in less than 72 hours. The House letter was sent to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton with 333 signatures. The Senate letter comes as General David Petraeus, commander of the U.S. Central Command, told a Washington, D.C., audience that Israel "is, has been and will be an important strategic ally of the United States."

Hamas Cell Uncovered in West Bank
The Palestinian Authority (PA) on Wednesday uncovered a Hamas weapons cache near the West Bank city of Nablus, discovering guns, ammunition, night vision binoculars, a special M-16 sniper rifle and $163,000 in cash, Ynet reported. The rivalry between Hamas and the PA's Fatah faction intensified in 2007, when the Islamist group violently seized control of the Gaza Strip. Since that time, Hamas—backed by Iran—has used the coastal strip as a base for launching rocket attacks at Israeli civilians. Hamas' charter is filled with anti-Semitic language. It proudly quotes a saying attributed to Muhammed, the Muslim prophet, that reads, "The Day of Judgment will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews (killing the Jews), when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdulla, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him."
